Oral histories capture personal memories and community stories through recorded interviews, preserving voices that bring the past to life. This collection offers tools, guides, and templates to help you plan, conduct, and care for oral history projects. Whether you’re new to the process or expanding existing work, explore practical resources on interviewing, ethics, and preservation to ensure these stories endure.
The Wyoming Oral History Toolkit was designed for small and rural libraries and cultural heritage organizations that want to capture stories from members of their community without the expense of buying and maintaining equipment. The oral history toolkits include a digital recorder, 2 microphones, tripod with carrying case, SD card reader, guidebooks for conducting oral histories, and examples of release forms. They can be loaned to organizations for up to three months.
